HOW ABOUT VIEWS FROM 3000 FEET HIGH
CATCH ME RIDING THROUGH THE CITY
Think hot air balloons. Think Stars Wars-like landscape. Think Fantasy. Think cave hotels. Think Cappadocia. The small region is vibrant and has an abundance of exceptional natural wonders. Once the largest province of the Roman Empire, Cappadocia sits southwest of Kayseri and is easily accessible to both Ankara and Istanbul.
DAY 1: EXPLORE THE TURKISH DELIGHT
After settling in, prepare to visit on the most popular attractions and historic sites in Cappadocia, the Goreme Open-Air Museum. The site has many cave houses, churches and rooms with ancient frescoes that date back all the way back to the 10th century. There are more than 30 stops on the 2-hour audio-guided tour and is filled with interesting facts and history that surround the nostalgic place. The UNESCO World Heritage site is only 15 minutes away from the town centre so it is easy to get to.
Goreme is also home to the Katpatuka Camur Maharasi baths. You will be gifted with a fish spa, a mineral water bath and then a mud bath! It’s all a bit of fun and it will leave you feeling refreshed and revitalised.
DAY 2: VIEWS FROM THE 6
This is for the hikers. The Red Valley hike is amongst the most popular hikes in eastern Europe. The valley constitutes an amazing sunset spot. So whether you use your feet or you use wheels, end up at a chill cafe on the mountains. There is a greatly known trail loop which includes Rose Valley and Meskindir. Find yourself dwelling inside caves and yellow sandstone rock formations. Imagine staring at a graceful and tranquil sunset with a unique terrain below. What dreams are made of!
DAY 3: HOW ABOUT VIEWS FROM 3000 FEET HIGH
Day 3 will see you explore Cappadocia from two completely different altitude points. You will spend the first part of your day wondering through the underground city of Derinkuyu. Sitting 60 metres underneath the surface, Derinkuyu is the largest evacuated underground city in Turkey. The city has a unique room with a barrel-vaulted ceiling that was once used as a religious school.
You normally spend time in the air travelling from one location to another. But imagine enjoying your holiday while you hover in the air . A scenic route, if you may. Despite the early start (and the potential dent in your pocket), seeing the unique terrain from the vantage point in the sky will be an unforgettable experience. Do you know how high you will be? Up to 300 metres!
DAY 4: CATCH ME RIDING THROUGH THE CITY
There are many walking opportunities in Cappadocia.
– Ihlara Valley
– Pasabag Valley
– Pigeon Valley
– Devrent Valley
The rocks in these valleys are made of volcanic ash. They sometimes crumble very easy but these erosions give the rocks their unique shape. Many minerals are present in the ground and in the rocks. These minerals create numerous colours that can be seen very clearly when the sun is out.
It’s also possible to take a quad tour through some of the above valleys which last about two hours. The tour can take you off-road toward Cave-in Old Greek Village.
